Welcome to the Dragon Boat Club

Dragon Boating is a team racing sport that started in ancient China. With twenty paddlers, one drummer, and one steers-person on a boat; we work together to cross the finish line. The Norristown Dragon Boat Club consists of 45 paddlers of varying degrees of experience with a shared goal of building community relations and instilling sportsmanship. We have a strong competitive spirit in Dragon Boat Racing alongside our community outreach. We are located at Riverfront Park, 1 Haws Avenue, Norristown PA and have a strong relationship with the community.

The Dragon Boat Club was started over 15 years ago by Robin Parker in Philadelphia. At that time, the club’s main purpose was a strong adult competitive dragon boat team. Over the years, not only has the club found a home at Riverfront Park in Norristown, but the club has drastically grown in size and programs. Over the course of the years, we have added:

  • Team Building (from 10 to 500 people)
  • Community Dragon Boat Team
  • Youth Team
  • Breast Cancer Team (new this year)
  • Boy Scout Merit Badges (Rowing/Kayaking/Canoeing)
  • Youth Activities
  • Community Events
    • Earth Day
    • Spaghetti Dinner
    • Chris Rommel 5k Run/Walk
    • Schuylkill River Sojourn
    • Moon Light paddle
    • Sunrise Paddle
    • Riverfest
    • Winter Wonderland

No matter what your passion, athletic capabilities, and time commitment are; the Dragon Boat Club has something for you! We are not a traditional Dragon Boat Club, we do have a competitive team that we train hard and our goal is to win, but we also offer a community team and everything in between.  Currently the members of the Dragon Boat Club range in age from 8 Р80, no matter your age or if you are new to working out, you have a place on the boat with us.  To get started, just email info@dragonboatclub.org to let us know your interest and we will guide you from there.

The Dragon Boat Club in Norristown is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that promotes health/fitness for all ages. If you would like to help with our goals, please Donate to DBC
